Q What is a MRI? A MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI uses a magnetic field, radio waves and computer technology to create detailed images of soft tissues, muscles, nerves and bones in your body. |
Q Is a MRI safe? A A MRI is a non-invasive and efficient method for medical diagnosis of many conditions, without the use of harmful x-rays. The magnetic field and radio waves have proven to be extremely safe and painless. |
Q Will I hear any noise during the scan? A You will hear a faint knocking sound during the scan which means the MRI scanner is in the process of producing your images. If the noise becomes bothersome, we will be happy to provide you with ear plugs. |
Q I am claustrophobic. What can I do? A Our open-sided MRI is open on all four sides, creating a more comfortable and stress-free environment. If you feel that a high level of anxiety may prevent you from completing your scan, please speak with your doctor and ask if he/she will prescribe an oral sedative to take prior to your scan. The sedative will help you relax and remain still during your scan so that high quality images can be obtained. |
Q Will a family member be able to go into the scan room with me? A Yes. A family member or friend may sit with you during your MRI scan, after a few brief screening questions are answered. |
Q How long will my MRI scan last? A The time it takes for a MRI scan depends on the area that is being scanned. Most MRI exams are 30-45 minutes. |
Q Can I eat before my MRI exam? A Yes. There are no eating restrictions prior to having a MRI and you should take all prescribed medications. |
Q How long will it take to hear about my results? A Your doctor will have your results within 24 hours of your scan time. If your physician needs results sooner, he/she can specify this on their written orders and we can obtain a report within four hours. |
Q Do you accept Worker’s Compensation cases? A Yes. We do require authorization and necessary paperwork to process your claim with your Workers Compensation insurance carrier. |
Q Do you accept Automobile Injury claim cases? A Yes. Again, we require authorization and necessary paperwork to process your claim with your Automobile Insurance company and/or your attorney. |
